Generally society frowns upon drinking in your pajamas at 11:00 a.m. on a weekday. But that is exactly how we rang in 2014 at M Street Kitchen in Santa Monica. Leah and I dragged ourselves from bed, donned our matching Little House on the Prairie nightgowns, and gathered a few friends for Mimosas and storytelling from the night before. Brunchers went all out for M Street Kitchen’s annual pajama brunch. We saw many a onesie (including Leah’s husband, Michael), while my man wore flannel pajama pants decorated with mooses (or is it moose, or meeese)? Clearly, we were a sight to be seen.
M Street is always packed for brunch - New Year’s Day brunch being no exception – and we can see why. The restaurant itself is bright and airy with high ceilings. There is a patio overlooking Main Street that is pup friendly! The menu is large with a lot of breakfast and lunch options (although lunch items are only available after 11a.m.). While a few of our friends ordered omelets, Leah and I, both went for burgers with fries. That’s right, pure class all the way. A few favorites of the table were their homemade English muffins, the crispy hash browns benedict, and their large, fluffy pancakes.
All in all, it was a great way to start off 2014. We hope all of you had a fantastic New Year and may 2014 be filled with lots of brunch (and mimosas)!
